When choosing plants for a specific location or function, we need to be careful to consider many factors, including size at maturity, water requirements, hardiness, and color. We've organized the plants on this page into two main categories based on water requirements, because for those of us living in San Diego's North County, this should usually be our number one concern. We've also included recommendations for selecting plants within each category based on the predominant color themes. If you have questions about our recommendations, send them to me at holmes@holmeslandscape.com.
